2024-07-22 (M) GrinderCompassMKIII REV21 with long springs

The wire loops were too rigid to permit the spinner to wobble, but the design requires some flexibility. I revised the axle holder to put the wire grooves at the top to increase the wire length between the hub and rim. I calculated 72 millimeters would be enough wire to reach, plus some extra for "springiness." I cut two segments and formed them into oblong loops with tweezers.
Unsoldered wire loops

When I tried to form the wires, they would not bend uniformly, and one of the solder joints broke. Each loop should have four bends on both sides, but they had to be quadrilaterally symmetrical, so I wanted to use the spinner and axle as guides, but they were too fragile for that kind of torque, and I stopped before I broke something else.
