When I connected my MIDI-enabled piano to the controller, it did not respond quickly or reliably. Most of the data was "248" and "254" in decimal. These timing signals caused the controller to miss the note commands, even after I instructed it to ignore them. Sometimes, the note and velocity were incorrect, so I had notes that remained on and played at unpredictable volumes.
I connected a Rock Band keytar controller, and I still saw the timing commands, but only "254" and not as frequently. When I investigated online, I found a helpful guide that explained what all the game controller keys did. The keytar controller worked more reliably than the keyboard, so I can worry about that later. While I played with various instruments, I kept the volume low so I would not disturb anyone, but that meant my synthesizer was playing quietly, so I added a Velocity Floor in TcMenu and copied the new code out to mine.
