Another pair of short chapters was recorded. Chapters 32 and 33.
One problem while recording is loud keypresses. Standard keyboards are quiet compared to mechanical keyboards. Mechanical keyboards are usually used by gamers and high-traffic business computers which see a lot of abuse. Despite the relative quiet they can still be heard while recording. The easiest solution was a silicone keyboard, usually sold as waterproof or roll-up keyboards. They pretty inexpensive but difficult for typing because they don’t feel like a regular keyboard. The obvious advantage here is that they don’t use rigid plastic hinges for movement, just the flexing of a thin silicone sheet.
Desk space in the recording area has been limited and the height is uncomfortable for extended periods where it was necessary to resting hands on the keyboard and mouse area. A couple options are available if an upgrade happens. It’s possible to buy an adjustable keyboard platform but it must be very solid since some have cheap drawer slides which would be noisy. Another option is to build a cheaper version with angle iron and hinges which can be tightened quickly. The third option is to build another lower shelf.
To do:
Today’s word count: 0 - 0 = 0 words
Total word count: 27 240 + 60 228 + 83 897 = 171 365 words
The rest of the posts for this project have been arranged by date.
