Playing multiple instruments at one time was an elusive goal. When everything looked it like was in working order, it still would not make any sound. I thought this could be a case of low channel volume, so that was maximized. I thought the velocity of the noes might be getting ignored, but they were set to audible levels. The problem turned out to be a variable associated with each channel. I was supposed to generate a number one through ten that would decide how long each note would stay active. A duration of one would cut a note off shortly after it started playing, while a duration setting of ten would sustain right up until the next note started. I did not generate a number here, so it defaulted to zero, and while my debugging showed that notes were turning on, they were also turning off one cycle later. One variable and one bug defeated together.
