Our still unnamed podcast needed some intro music, but I knew it would be a chore to get a consensus. I opted to create something inconsequential, so I wouldn't feel bad abandoning it, and there wouldn't be any copyright issues. My first attempt was a beat loop in GarageBand. It was simple, but I wasn't going for attention-getting.
My next attempts were with Synth One, a free iOS app with a lot of power. I tooled through the included sounds and played around with chords, the integrated arpeggiate function, and on-the-fly modulation. I made more basic, but usable, clips. I put them all in a folder and let things in my head calm down before making a decision.

Making a beat in GarageBand
