2023-01-22 (Su) EWC_Box Concept sketch

I have been eager for a physical project with buttons and microcontrollers, and the Gravy Shock voices needed a soundtrack. All my music projects have been melodic instruments playing pseudo-random notes or a drum machine that relied on a prandom function to make exciting loops. I want to combine them in one device to generate endless notes with one or more instruments and simultaneously add a percussion loop in time. I won't bother with a timing signal since this will be a standalone unit, but I will output the MIDI code to a serial port to run it to a synthesizer or computer.

I want a pretty device, so I can show it off and portable to use anywhere. I thought for a few days about the modes I want to implement, and I will need a screen as I used in the EWC_OST, but it will show relevant data for whatever mode I select. In the EWC_OST, I had "Moods," with unique sound profiles and names, but for some operations, I will only need a couple of adjustments. Like old feature-phones, all the buttons will be "soft buttons" that relate to a function on the screen. Similarly, I will have potentiometers with programmable functions. Another advantage to the layout will be that I can add more modes in the future as long as the available controls do not limit them.
Roughly what I'm thinking
