I tried the simple design I created yesterday, but the brass would not form cleanly around such a small shape, and I merely kinked a few strips into unusability. I tried to make a larger model that would thin two springs at once so it would have a larger diameter and put less bend into the brass. The problem with this design was that I could not fasten both ends. I tried making a hoop to hold the metal in shape and then tighten wooden discs above and below, but nothing held.
Second version
I went through a few iterations of building tools, redesigning, and bending metal, but I never made anything usable enough to put it into a drill for a trial. I will reconsider what kind of metal and weights I am using.
