I finally received most of the necessary parts to construct the aluminum frame. I ordered 600-millimeter lengths to span the width and 150-millimeter pieces for the lengths and height. The piece at the bottom was shorter after I trimmed it to match the keyboard height.

I used the frame to cut a piece of birch plywood that would become the bottom. I painted it, let that dry overnight, and added a layer of polyurethane. I considered drilling the fastening holes before painting, but that would detract from drying time.
