The problem with the previous mechanical compasses was that I could not get adequate feedback. The issue may have been that my spinner and the suspended bead were not part of the chassis, so they did not transfer reverberations well. I want to try a version where a brass bolt comes through the bottom and lightly touches the lower bead. I tried similar arrangements before, but I will prioritize movement over collision and hopefully find a balance this time.
