2024-08-03 (Sa) GrinderCompassMKIII Feedback mechanism design

The flexible spinner and enlarged shell were working, so I started thinking about how to add feedback. The purpose of the large spinner was to provide space on the inside for feedback and because I could get more magnets inside a toroid. I considered an articulated arm to position a metal post next to the axle, but it would require too much clearance, so I sketched a design that used a brass stub soldered to the end of a threaded rod. The threaded rod should let me position it precisely inside the spinner.
Concept: threaded crossbars

I cut a piece of brass 1/8" (3.175 mm) rod stock at a 45-degree angle and rounded the flat tip. I cut a segment of an M3 threaded rod at a 45-degree angle. I soldered the two pieces together to make a 90-degree angle. I fused a couple of short coupling nuts at a right angle. The assembly should allow me to position the metal stub inside the spinner.
