2024-08-17 (Sa) GrinderCompassMKIII New design sketch

The previous compass design worked reasonably well, but it necessitated some sizable hardware, and I had an idea that might work with smaller components. The concept was a diametrically magnetized neodymium cylinder on a threaded axle with beads at the top and bottom. My earlier designs that used these magnets placed the bearings on the sides, but this change should drastically reduce the diameter.

I sketched the essential parts and wrote down the significant notes, such as what size threaded hardware I would select for the first model. I found brass set screws that came with conical tips. The more commercially available components I can source, the easier it will be to duplicate the results.
