2024-09-06 (F) Weekly Summary

I revised the axle spinner so it pulled on the ends evenly. The solution was to attach the spring mechanisms at the sides symmetrically, unlike the first version, which started at one side.

I printed the new parts, but the shell was too small, which was an easy fix for the next print. The big issue was the axle holder, which had sides that were too flexible, and it could not stay upright under its own weight. The next version will be rigid.

I went with the rigid axle holder and switched from an array of elastics  to a large piece at the top and bottom. I printed the parts and cut some fishing lure segments and assembled everything.

I revised the shell to include deeper elastic sockets. The elastic holders on the spinner are also deeper. The old shell was open on two sides, but this one is only open on one side, and there is a feedback bolt hole in the center.

I printed the new shell and some elastic holders but chose the deepest ones. I added new segments from the fishing lures, and they stayed in place well, but the axle holder kept banging into the sides, so I could not get any feedback.

I revised the model in a few ways. The most significant change was the shell, which can load everything from the top, and there is a stemmed cap that I can seal in place and cut off the stick. The elastic holders now use M3 hardware.
