2024-09-13 (F) Weekly Summary

I had black resin in the printer, so the new parts for REV32 were of a different color. The shell and axle holder came out nicely, but the cap with the thin stem was sloppy, and I could not get it to fit inside the tube. I discovered that applying pressure to the elastics held the internals more securely.
REV32 taught me a lot

I made the cap stem and elastic holders into hexagons. The elastic holders will be easier to turn and are even wrench-compatible. The cap has a hex stem so I can smooth the sides by loading it into a bit driver and spinning it across some sandpaper.
Hex is a theme this time

I 3D printed the plug but had trouble with the 1/4" hex drive being too large for a bit driver. I ended up using an electric drill instead. I held the plug against a razor knife while spinning it to smooth out the edges. I didn't have sandpaper, so I put it into the case and spun it to eliminate the rough edges. I installed the axle holder and elastics from the top, then added the cap. The tension between the plug and case was enough to hold it in position after assembly. I plan to move the feedback mechanism closer to the spinner in the next revision.

I adjusted the feedback mechanism so that it now reaches far enough into the device to contact the spinner. Additionally, I reduced the hex drive by 5% to ensure it fits into a bit driver.

I tested the four models, and the one with a one-millimeter offset was the greatest change I could still insert in the axle holder. I noticed that moving the feedback bolt down would make more sense because the device moves more than above.
I got another one working!

I made several adjustments to the unit. I moved the feedback bolt hole down, extended the cap's hex drive, created smaller cap diameters, expanded the bolt holes, and flattened the front and back of the axle holder.
