The magnet fitted into the loop snuggly, and friction held it in place. I was impressed by the thread library and my printer's ability to produce them, but the ones on the shell and cap were too shallow to mate, which was not surprising since the diameter was twelve millimeters, but I was using the same thread pattern you would find on an M3 bolt. The first spring was too thick to allow much movement, and certainly too much for a delicate compass spinner to deflect.
