The springs allowed the axle pin to bend at an angle. I hoped the spring's shape would keep it pointed in the same direction as it moved, but it was not possible. I changed the format from two wide springs on either side of the axle pin holder to four springs sprouting from the central hub. The tricky part was getting them to print cleanly, which I failed to do. The result was a completely failed spring and three so malformed that they would not hold their form while sitting on a motionless table. I tested their ability to maintain linear motion, but they still wanted to flex toward unwanted angles.
