2024-10-07 (M) GrinderCompassMKIII Printed case and sinking magnet

I printed the latest buoy and a container. I put a magnet into the float and secured it with a nylon machine screw. The container did not want to close at first, but after I screwed the cap on and off a few times, it closed, and the edges lined up cleanly. The float sat in the container without rubbing on the walls, but the screw on the bottom would cause problems with jostling.

I sealed the top of the buoy with a dob of printer resin and cured it with a flashlight. I wanted to test the buoyancy factor to see if I needed less volume, more volume, or lots more volume. I tossed the buoy into a clear water glass and declared that I was "gonna need a bigger boat."
