My Love Sac couch used specifically-sized feet, and replacements were exorbitantly priced, so I set to making some. The diameter was 1 3/8", which was peculiar, and I could not find hardwood dowels, only poplar. I tried cutting a couple of feet without much planning, and the issues were that I needed help finding the dowel's center and could not make perpendicular cuts with my jig saw.
A collar around the dowel should be enough to keep the cut straight, and I knew the diameter. During the modeling, I added a hemi-circle at the top where I could seat a ruler and draw lines across the top to find the center.
The notch in the side is for a zip tie. If I put a zip tie across the dowel, it should prevent the collar from slipping, and the notch will let me position the head there so I have contact all the way around.
